Best PS3 Games So Far – 2011

2011 has been a whirlwind year for Playstation 3 fans, with a deluge of great games released and the promise of even more to come. With so many great choices, what are the best PS3 games of the year?

1. Batman: Arkham City
The much-anticipated sequel to Arkham Asylum, Arkham City brings players back to the world of a classic superhero, this time with an intricate plot and an open world platform. Players can explore Arkham City as Batman, catapulting and gliding between buildings as they dodge henchmen, missiles, and helicopters. Inside the asylum, more than twelve classic villains come together, all playing a unique part in the plot. The Joker, Harley Quinn, Clayface, the Riddler, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, Zsasz, and more make an appearance in the game, either as sideline characters or part of the main plot. The bonus? Players can download special skins and play as retro Batman from the animated series, or as the futuristic Batman Beyond.

2. Portal 2
Portal has always been a thinking person’s game and Portal 2 doesn’t change that. Here, the plot and characters are more defined, while the world is bigger and better. It’s funny and challenging, with more than its fair share of visual and reasoning puzzles to leave you scratching your head often. The solutions aren’t contrived, however, and there are parts that feel just like a first-person shooter for the traditionalists. Gamers can get extra mileage out of Portal 2 after they finish with excellent co-op experiences available.

3. Mortal Kombat
The ninth installment of this classic does the opposite of what makes Portal 2 and Arkham City great, taking gamers back to basics with a radically scaled down experience. There are several playing options: one and two-player as well as Ladders, Team Ladders, and a short but excellent Story Mode. All get battled out in an old-school, side-scrolling platform. Downloadable skins and classic costumes allow players to get the full retro experience in high definition, while the Playstation Network allows you to log on and test your skills against worldwide opponents. Best of all, like any good arcade game, Mortal Kombat has excellent replay value.

Other exicting games released in November 2011 includes the following: Assassin’s Creed 4 and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. These new installments of the previous blockbusters is a must for all PS3 game lovers.
